Payment Holds

Hi. I have recently started selling again after a long break. I have now just sold my tenth item and eBay are still holding on to the funds for the next fourteen days, as they have with the previous nine sales. eBay says it's because I've got a limited selling history. All my items are posted with a tracking number which I upload to eBay. Even after the delivery is confirmed eBay will not release the funds before the fourteen day mark. Has this happened to anyone else?

I'm afraid its their new policy, its supposed to help protect against your account having been hacked after its been inactive for a while. You might be able to get them to review it if you still use the same bank account, if the account has been verified, or you add a credit card and phone number.

I've just started reselling after a very long break (although I have still bought from ebay). I changed the payment schedule to daily and have had no problems. I did have go into update my account details, which wasn't obvious at first that it needed to be done.

I remember when I first sold on ebay in the early 2000s and I had to wait for the buyer to post a cheque, and then wait for the cheque to clear!

Just coming back to update this thread. After I sold my eleventh item the holds were lifted and I now get my payment processed straight away. Thanks for the comments!
