Seller has still not left feedback for me after 2 weeks and a polite email reminder

My feedback to him read: 'Set was made up of two different sets but otherwise fine, thanks.'
Would you be p-off with that feedback? It's honest and I don't think it discredits the seller.
AIBU to expect him to leave feedback for me? Is it normal for some people not to bother? I only have 17 purchases under my belt and want to start selling soon so I really need all the positive feedback I can get.

don't worry and don't chase them. some sellers leave feedback ages after the transaction and some not at all.

Surfermum · 20/12/2007 20:24

I got chased yesterday to leave some feedback for someone who bought off me recently. It's just a really busy time of year and I have had too much else to do. It might be nothing to do with your feedback, just that they're busy.

CarGirl · 20/12/2007 20:26

don't chase people it irritates them, many people only leave feedback in bulk once per month or so. If dh gets hassled he won't leave feedback (he's a bit stubborn!)

Pixiefish · 20/12/2007 20:26

some people don't leave it

Shitemum · 21/12/2007 14:17

thanks, will let it go and hope he leaves it later...

if people email me to leave feedback, then i leave it a couple of mroe days.

i tend to do mine in bulk.

Egg · 21/12/2007 14:40

I haven't always left feedback, sometimes I just don't get round to it. I wouldn't worry, as long as you have nothing negative am sure your profile will look ok!

timetochange · 02/01/2008 01:18

I've been ebaying for years and 99.9% of the time I leave feedback, I've never left a neg for anyone yet, although come close to it when a buyer as been rude. Having read the ebay Q+A forum some ebayers will leave neg saying here's your feedback - happy now? if they get asked to leave it.

I'd personally never ask anyone to leave feedback for me it's optional IMHO

laura032004 · 02/01/2008 08:33

You could just out of interest, see if they tend to leave f/back for others on the feedback profile page. It's the third tab along.

Mine is now done automatically upon receipt of positive feedback, which takes a lot of the hassle out of it for me

belcantavinissima · 02/01/2008 08:57

god it really winds me up when people dont leave feedback. afaik its not optional, its how the whole ebay thing works, how are potential buyers/sellers to know whom is to be trusted if people dont bother leaving feedback?
i always wait a couple of weeks then email them and say i have left feedback for you plaease could you do the same for me. its just polite for them to return it if you have done so for them. tis partyicularly annoying when you go onto theire profile and see that they have left feedback for people already that were after you iyswim. ooh that does annoy me.

incidentally, i am waiting for about 6 lots of feedback right now...

sixlostmonkeys · 02/01/2008 19:19

belcantavinissima - feedback is definitely 'optional' - you are correct about the idea behind it ie letting others know etc, but it's is most certainly optional.

A reason why FB could have been left for others and not you could be because you have asked for it
I really hope you don't mention that you have noticed that they have left it for others and not you I recently had a buyer stalking me like that - that really wound me up I can tell you.

I'm always waiting for about 30 - 40 FB. About 10% - 20% never leave it at all. I've never asked for it and never ever ever will.

HappyMummyOfOne · 07/01/2008 13:54

I tend to leave my feedback in bulk once a month. Have to say though, hate chaser emails for feedback and then I wont leave it.

Feedback is optional and nobody has to leave it.

FlameNFurter · 07/01/2008 13:59

I tend not to leave it if I am asked for it.

partypiece · 07/01/2008 13:59

If someone hassled me, I'd not bother on purpose. I would be really annoyed by it.

VictorianSqualor · 07/01/2008 14:14

I got an email yesterday actually asking me to leave feedback for some item or other.
I found the actual message rather rudely worded so they can wait.

CaptainUnderpants · 07/01/2008 14:14

Perhaps the seller has other things going on in their life which is a bit more important than your feedback.

I didn't leave feed back for someone for a good few weeks in the summer - reason why - my Mum died. If I had an email from them chasing feedback after two weeks then they would have had a stern reply !

Bigger picture ...

Vacua · 07/01/2008 14:21

it's really really rude when sellers chase you for feedback despite not having left any for you, even though your side of the deal - PAYING - has already been done

sixlostmonkeys · 07/01/2008 15:04

vacua - the buyers side of the deal is more than just paying, and usually a seller's only way to know if the buyer has received and is happy with the item is by receiving feedback.
No one should ask for feedback, but some sellers do like to know that the item arrived and is ok. Feedback is the easiest way for a buyer to let them know this, and once buyer's FB has been received the seller knows this is the end of the transaction and can then go ahead and leave their FB

VictorianSqualor · 07/01/2008 15:07

Ah, but some will not leave feedback for you until you have for them because they want to see how good the feedback you give them is, that's sneaky.

sixlostmonkeys · 07/01/2008 15:14

as a buyer simply let the seller know that you have received your item and you are happy with it. a seller should then leave you FB. If they don't then...... it's up to you.
a seller can't realistically leave FB until the end of the transaction ie when he knows the buyer is happy. Tis up to the buyer how he lets the seller know.
