Cash on Collection new eBay payment system

I'm selling an item that's collection only and the prospective buyer has messaged to ask if they can pay cash on collection. I have searched eBay and it says I must scan a QR code that the buyer will provide. Has anyone done this and was it straightforward? Many thanks for any advice.

Yes it's quite simple. There's a QR code they can scan or a number you can input.
I've started messaging buyers who are collecting to make sure they bring the number or QR with them as you can't mark it collected without scanning/typing in the code.

I assume if you don't take the code, they can claim they never collected it. Cash is easier obviously but I've had a few that pay by PayPal when they're on their way despite agreeing cash on collection.

Make sure you take the cash before you type in the code. Once the code is used it is marked as collected and you have no way of chasing them for payment.

Thanks so much both. I will message now and ask them to bring the QR or number with them so I can input into the bay App. I actually really dislike doing cash on collection as have had a few buyers who arrived and were short of the sold price as 'the ATM wouldn't let me take out any more cash' etc etc – trying it on!

Buyers just collected their chair and the QR code worked a charm - thanks both for your help. Just a quick general question though – can people still claim an item is not as described if they have collected an item?
