Payment on hold - Ebay new system WTF?

Right, I understood that you now have your funds paid into your account rather than via Paypal. Good, no more Paypal fees.
However, it can take a few days for it to be processed through to your bank account. That's okay, I shall just wait until it goes through.

Sold an item since the new system and it says funds on hold. I see that I didn't quite tick the box that says use the account for payment, so I tick it and that should change things right?

I'm confused. It still says funds on hold. Will the status change once I mark it as despatched?

They hold on to the funds (to get interest??) for a few days to allow the item to get to the buyer. I entered the code from Hermes onto the system and got paid soon after Hermes confirmed it had been delivered. I think it was about 5 days after the buyer paid.

The delivery options are also new to me. Is there any advantage in choosing EBay Packlink over taking the parcel to a Hermes shop? There is one 10 minutes walk from me at the Co-op so it's not really that much of a hassle if I need to nip out for bread or milk.

It can take them up to 3 working days to send you the money but thats funds in processing, not funds that are on hold.
If you have funds in hold it's usually because of a dispute, someone has asked for a refund, or said their item hasn't arrived.

Double check you have let ebay know where to send the money, and check out this thread;

That's very helpful @Thelnebriati. I have email confirmation of where funds are being sent to. In the order details, it says funds are on hold until 1 day after delivery confirmation. Is that the norm these days for eBay?

It might be because your account is new. It takes time to build up a trust rating with them.

Whatever you do, don't use Packlink. If something goes wrong they are spectacularly crap.

I've been on the new payment thingy for months now. For the first few weeks it took days to get the money, going through the 'hold', 'process', 'available' stages every time. Now it's paid in the following day, no fuss.
