eBay changes and money clearing...

It used to be instant that it was paid into Paypal
But I sold my first item since they changed everything and it took 6 days to show up in my account
This means sending anything is delayed. I often used to be able to post same day on my way to work. So the last item couldn't be posted until over a week's time
Yet in that time I get a reminder from eBay to send the item by a certain date. Well that date came and went
Why are they doing this? Are they stupid?
Who would send an item before receiving payment?

I should say, it took six days for the money to go into my BANK account

This has happened to me last week. I have been a seller and buyer for years and only experienced this with excheques. The buyer paid immediately but I was taking ages to clear into my bank account rather than PayPal. I kept messaging to apologise and she was getting a bit off with me as I hadn't sent the item yet. I don't understand the change? Can I change payment preferences back to PayPal?

You need to update your settings to show you won't post until day 6. Personally l'm happy to post when ebay say it's been paid for but then majority of my items are less than £10.

You cannot change back to paypal which is a shame.

Like others I liked watching my paypal balance increase & then I'd justify treats to myself.

Now it all goes in my one bank account and gets lost amongst the pet insurance, sports club fees, tesco shop etc. I know I can sort income by Adyen but it's not the same!

I have started to post items when ebay tells me it's paid, I value a fast turnaround and for the sake of a few £ a few days I'm fine with that.

It's infuriating and I wouldn't have changed until I had to had I realised.

I do however send stuff straight away when ebay says the money has been paid and it's always arrived within a couple of days. You should also be able to check it's gone through somewhere in your seller account but don't ask me how to find it because like everything useful on ebay it's stuck in a dark corner and has to be actively hunted out Angry

Another thought - have you set your preferences to daily payment? This should speed things up.

It's not "clearing" into your bank account. ebay pay you via Direct Debit which takes time to process.

The instant you are paid by the buyer, the money is secure.

If you're NOT posting when ebay tell you to, then you'll chalk up late item black marks. Three of those and your selling priviliges will be restricted.

Just create a separate bank account for ebay!!

Better to have extra accounts anyway so you can take advantage of more switching offers.

@strangeshapedpotato Thanks, yes I did consider this though I haven't needed to open an account in ages.
