This seems to be a pilot scheme but if it comes to fruition I’m thinking that it’ll be exploited by people returning things because they don’t fit or have changed their minds etc....I’ve already had a couple of buyers nit-pick for the most minor of faults (on a preloved item!) in order to get a refund.

I try to sell elsewhere now because of the risk of being caught out by dishonest buyers exploiting the returns process and extortionate selling fees. I think if this comes to fruition I won’t be using eBay as a seller anymore.

What happens if it gets sent back and there's nothing wrong with it?

BumbleFlump · 29/05/2021 10:42

Exactly, postage is automatically refunded too so you’d actually be worse off. Fair enough if the item isn’t actually as described but what if there’s nothing wrong with it? 🤷🏻‍♀️

Glad to see that ebay are looking after the Sellers again! Dont they realise that it's Sellers that generate their income and eroding sellers' rights is going to put people off using eBay?

TBF, eBay would always side with the seller anyway, so this new system won’t change anything in that regard.

I wont opt in to this and if they make it compulsory I'll quit Ebay. I've had people try to return an item that I suspect they only wanted to wear once. I've also had people buy items because they had broken theirs, then return the broken one to me. One was a rare CD; the jewel case and bubble wrap envelope were undamaged but it supposedly got broken in the post.

As a seller you specify whether or not to allow returns. Most private sellers opt for "No Returns". ergo Easy Returns doesn't apply!

That won't stop buyers opening SNAD's of course.
