Anyone up for a funds generating clear out challenge ?

I did this some years ago and it was definitely motivating to have a thread sharing success/lack of success with others doing the same.

I need to get listing to raise funds for a particular expense coming up in July.

I will need to switch from paypal to a separate bank account along the way so can share the joys of that too.

Anyone else ?

Glad I've seen this thread. I'd put a reminder on my phone to list some things on Saturday.
Mainly clothes and old hobby stuff.
Not got a target or purchase in mind but it all helps.
Anyone had much success with Vinted ?

RulesRulesRulesRulesRules · 04/06/2021 22:02

@JSL52 kist joined Vinted this week & sold my first dress within a few hours for asking price. So much easier than ebay. The buyer paid postage & sent me a label. And you chat through the app. Fab first impressions from me 👍👍👍

I've put something on vinted and will watch to see if it does attract more interest. But I don't like the adverts..... or the layout..... too used to Ebay perhaps.

@RulesRulesRulesRulesRules do you have a link to your Vinted thread? Planning on starting tomorrow! Don’t care whether eBay or Vinted just want rid of stuff!

Sadly I don't think my stuff is quality enough for vinted or similar. It's mostly outgrown kids stuff I'm selling and I do seem to have a mountain of it still to go !

Have managed another £50 of sales so probably another £30 net. New bank account is up and linked to e-bay but presumably if some buyers still pay by paypal then I now lose out more due to ebay's increased fees. I thought my e-bay account would self-destruct after the 31/5/21 but apparently not. Wish I'd held on a bit longer now.

Still hoping I can reach my £500 target but mostly I want to de-clutter though so it's all good.

I'm running 60+ auctions currently and more to add if I only had the free time. I just keep relisting if they don't sell, experience from doing this some years ago tells me that a large proportion of it will eventually go.

I need to do this

fairisledog · 11/06/2021 12:07

Woo Hoo !. A flurry of e-bay sales and I've now made just over £400 after fees/p&p.

Feeling very motivated to keep going now. Busy weekend ahead with little time for listing but with 70 items running I should still get a sale or 2 until my next batch.

Keep it up folks. Think of all that space freed up in cupboards and rooms !

I’m in started sorting stuff to sell after Christmas and then just stopped. Will get photographing and listing this weekend!!

Thelnebriati · 11/06/2021 16:10

I'm right behind you with £300 (before fees and post). I thought we'd sold everything, but we've had another round up for this weekend.
I've actually run out of boxes Grin

fairisledog · 21/06/2021 16:36

Just hit £450 (after costs deducted). Very pleased with all my hard work.

Still mountains of clothing to list though. I have so far naughtily cherry picked popular/good quality brand stuff like Boden, M & S etc to list as single items or paired. Need to put together a few bundles of other stuff now.

Some non clothing items I've sold were odd shapes so I've used up all the packing tape.

I did list some stuff on a local facebook selling page but people seem determined to publicly beat you down to £1 an item or similar and it kind of makes me look grabby to hold out for more especially when they plead poverty and how much their son would love the item (oh and could I deliver or meet them in the city centre to hand it over at a time to suit them). I'm sure their son "would love" an almost new Mini Boden hoodie for £1 but I've already donated a bag of stuff to the local charity shop including some similar items and even they won't be pricing it at £1.

Hellooooo, anyone there ?!

I've now made my target but hoping to hit £650 by the end of the month.

There is no corner of the house I haven't dragged some seriously under utilised item out of and listed on e-bay.

The clothes mountain remains largely untouched however. I just need more hours in the day as work is v busy at the moment. Excuses, excuses, I just find listing clothes v tedious.

Any updates from anyone else ???

Has anyone done clothes selling at a car boot sale ?
