Quick Question for Ebay sellers - 'the seller offered a special discount ...'

I was just curious to know if the 'offering a special discount' on items in a buyer's watch list is an automated thing, or if sellers have to go in and offer the discount manually?

Thank you to any sellers who can enlighten me.

Not completely sure if this is what you are asking but as a seller I can choose to send an offer to people who are watching a particular item.

Thanks so much, @OneinNine - that was what I meant, thank you. I was just wondering why it seemed to happen randomly to some watched items but not others. If it's at seller discretion that answers my question.

Sellers can also set it to offer discount automatically. I prefer manual.

I think if I was selling I'd prefer to control it myself! Thanks for the insight, @1987qwerty.

eBay encourages us to send offers to watchers. I've never sent an offer so not sure what tends to happen next

The watcher then has 48 hours to accept the offer. Doesn't stop anyone else buying it first. I generally set a BIN price about 20% over what l'd really like to get. This gives scope for offering a reduction to watchers.
