Best offer on non returnable item?

I’ve very little eBay knowledge but how much would you offer for an item of clothing listed at £50 that can’t be refunded? Never bought the brand so no idea if it will fit. I really like it so I guess it depends on how much I am prepared to lose. If it’s too big I can get it altered, if it’s too small I will just have to lose weight!

Why not ask for the measurements before you decide if it's worth buying?

TBH most private sellers on eBay don’t accept returns, unless there’s a fault with the item. It’s only business sellers that have to accept returns.

I wouldn’t really say the fact that you can’t return it should come into how much you offer. As suggested above, ask for measurements, then compare them to a similar piece of your clothing that fits. Then make an offer based on how much you’re willing to pay.

Thanks for those tips! I didn’t catch up with messages so missed the measurements details from the seller and then missed the dress.I mourned it for a few days but now on the hunt for something else, that I can return.

If you want to buy something you can return then you will wipe out a lot of options, ie the majority of private sellers / used items.

Only buy it if you know it will fit. Ask for the measurements.
