Zero feedback buyer shipping abroad

I have been selling off some collectables and often end up with international buyers. My settings are UK only so they send things to companies based in the UK who forward them on. I was wary but have never had a problem so don't mind. I have just sold £100 worth of items to such a bidder (who also has zero feedback) who is now asking if I know of a cheaper service to the one they have selected (so a change of address). Is this dodgy? It doesn't feel right.

You're only protected if you send to the address on their PayPal that shows up when you sell the item. I would send a short message to the buyer saying that and if they cause an issue I would cancel the sale and block them as a bidder. You're not very protected as a seller on Ebay and it is worth trusting your instincts or you could post these items and lose your money with no recourse.

Yes but PayPal is no longer in force so I wonder what protection I do have under the new system?

They have just asked me to send non signed for so I think it's definitely dodgy.

If you've signed up to the global shipping program, then you have to send it that way. If they don't like it, it's tough really. If you don't send it that way, you won't be covered. In these circs, I'd usually explain this then offer to refund if they're not happy with that.

No, it's not GSP. They want to ship to a storage unit where a company will then forward the package abroad. I'm fine with this as have had no problems before, but given they have zero feedback and have asked me to send non tracked, I do think it's a scam. They haven't paid so I have suggested they may want to cancel with no issue from me. Have also reported to ebay.

Contact eBay customer Services, I had a similar situation with someone in Brazil, and eBay cancelled the sale and deleted their account.

someoneseatenmyapple · 26/04/2021 17:20

In that case, like you, I would definitely cancel the transaction.

Can I receive negative feedback if I cancel the sale?

Not if you say there was a problem with the buyers address and refund them.

someoneseatenmyapple · 26/04/2021 18:02

Potentially yes, because they've entered into a transaction. But I would ring eBay and explain why you don't feel comfortable selling to your customer. They are usually quite helpful. I spoke to them recently and they said feedback can be changed. By ringing them you might be heading that off because it will be logged in their records.
