New Ebayer here.

I have sold an item at a Buy It Now price of £120. I paid nothing for the listing as part of the free 1,000 listings thing they do for newbies.

I paid 50p for BIN listing and also had it on auction with a reserve for which I paid £2.60. These were charged separately on listing.

The Ebay fee + VAT comes to £15.66, so I was expecting £104.34 into my account. Instead I have looked on my Ebay account and they are sending £95.64 into my account. Why is the final amount £8.70 less than I was expecting?

There'll be a full breakdown of charges in your ebay account.

Click MyEbay -?Summary in the menu bar
Then select the Account tab (just underneath "My eBay")

Then on the LHS you'll see "Selling" and under that "Seller account"

In there you'll find a breakdown of all charges.

OK, got it. Thanks! I see that it has other BIN / reserve costs there too. Thanks for your help.

For future ref, nearly all the additions to the listing are a waste of money.

In particular reserves are pointless, just set a higher starting price.

If you're going to set a BIN price on it, why not JUST use BIN - then if it doesn't sell, relist as an auction?

I agree. I'm learning on the job a bit here. I shall definitely follow that advice. Smile

I think EBAY’s 10% is also levied on postage/delivery charges

hedgehogger1 · 09/04/2021 15:25

You then have to pay PayPal charges too. I gave up on eBay it wasn't worth it

@hedgehogger1 may I ask, are you using an alternative platform to sell stuff or have you ditched selling all together?

I tend to just put stuff on my local Facebook selling sites
