Is postage excluded from paypal buyer protection claims?

I am trying to buy a CD. The seller wants to list it at a penny and then charge the remainder as postage. I know this is a bit dubious, but I want to know what I would get back from paypal if the CD were scratched or failed to arrive - the whole amount or just the penny?

My instinct is to leave it but I have been looking for the CD for ages and I really am desperate coming up to Christmas!

if you win a paypal dispute you do not get the postage back for them to send to you and you have to pay return postage to them. have you tried play.com and cd-wow?

paypal refund the full amount you paid ie cost +P&P. Before they refund you need to return by trackable means at your own cost

I've recently had reason to try it - I got the price of the item plus the postage I paid to the seller back, but not my postage for returning the item. If you need to return something, make sure you send it recorded.
