Can anyone help with partial refund please?

I sold 2 items separately to the same buyer - they paid instantly, so I was unable to combine postage at that point.

I emailed them to say I would refund partially re postage once I had posted the items.

However, now that I come to do it, I cannot figure out how it now works. I can only see the links to partially refunding as a a managed payments seller - I don't know what this is , and don't want to do any more registering with them if I don't have to.

I have done refunds in the part, but the new sellers page looks completely different now. I have seen answers on how to do the refund referring to 'sellers dashboard' but I am now completely lost. I wish I hadn't told buyer I would do this now - they hadn't even asked.
Any help gratefully received.

Do it through PayPal, not eBay.

Ah, is that it? I'll give it a look, thanks.

(There might be a way to do it on eBay but I couldn’t find it when I needed to do the same thing)

what Nink said should work.

You could just send a paypal payment directly otherwise, too.

Sorry, a follow up question - I've found the paypal bit but there is only a tab to tick 'refund this payment' - if I click that, will there be another option to partially refund?

I believe so, but I’m loath to say for definite. I’m sure I thought exactly the same thing when I was doing it and was very relieved when it gave me the option in the next step to do a partial refund. But I’ve only done it once and it was quite a while ago! Sorry I can’t be of more help.

If you’re not sure you could just send a stand-alone payment on PayPal rather than a refund.

Thanks for your help, I'll have a look around the discussion boards to see if anyone there can confirm.

I have done this- I went to PayPal, and was able to just "pay " them any amount I wanted. I just labelled it "postage refund".

dancerdog · 26/01/2021 21:55

That does take you to an option to specify actual refund, so it worked. Thanks again.
