Payments processing changes.

I'm struggling with ebays changes to processing payments.

Before with eBay payment was processed through PayPal. It was clear, payment was fronted by PayPal and cleared payment was in your account in minutes ready for dispatch of items.

When the customer pays, they are notified that they have purchased an item and the seller needs to dispatch.

But, what's happening is the funds are being requested from the buyers bank, processed by eBay then after 2-3 working days it gets to the seller.

I have items purchased by buyers on Friday evening. I've been waiting for cleared funds but was informed this morning that it's going to be Wednesday before I see payment. eBay are still expecting me to dispatch expensive items without me receiving payment.

The system is showing me 'dispatch item' without me seeing the payment.

eBay say as they are not a financial institution they can't 'front' the money as PayPal do. But they are still expecting us to dispatch the item without receiving the money for the item.

Add to this there is no protection from being rated as poor for dispatch times when this is clearly eBays issue.

I'm fuming this morning. Normally I dispatch within hours. Not 5 days later!

I didn't see this coming so had to suck up the postage charge then wait to get my money back from Ebay. Since they receive the money straight away, I don't know why they are holding it for so long other than as a way to earn interest.

I've emailed my buyers to explain the extra delay. It will be five days + on this occasion before anything gets posted. I'm usually so prompt.

You can change your postage time in the listing so it might be worth going through your listings and doing that.

I am not happy they are taking away PayPal as an option. No more payments straight to your bank account, eBay will now take 2/3 days yet still expect you to send the item before you actually get paid?!

Nope, not for me. I will continue to buy from eBay but that is me done with selling. They have even bumped the fees up for selling - cheeky wankers

According to Martin Lewis the new system works out a tiny bit cheaper for sellers - I actually prefer it because it’s easier to see the fees I’ve been charged.
I’ve had no problems so far and am still posting out as soon as I can after eBay has confirmed the sale and that payment has been received.
The actual money has always landed in my account within a couple of days.

Hmmm I've never had any issues with this new system 🤔 I actually prefer it because it's easier to see exactly how much you're paying in fees and it actually works of cheaper for most items (although I'm sure they will gradually increase fees 🙄) Yes, it takes a little bit longer to receive the payment, but once you get the notification you're safe to post. I don't know why you're waiting 5 days to post items?? That's just going come back in bad ratings...

I think the new system works fine. If ebay says the buyer has paid then I go ahead and post the item. A couple of days later ebay transfer the amount paid less the fee to my account. The ebay fee is deducted straight away.
Previously Paypal deducted their fee immediately and I waited for a monthly ebay invoice for ebay fees which were then taken from Paypal about 2 weeks later - it was more difficult to keep track of. The new system seems simpler and more straightforward.

at least this reassures me that the email on the subject really is from ebay! I was concerned about handing over bank details for my personal ebay.

for the account for the charity that I help run - disaster. I ignored all the warning emails as they didn't say it was essential, and now can't sell from the account. The process linked from the emails doesn't work. I raised a help request, got sent an email with another link - which does 'circle of death' when I log into the charity paypal account (and why do they want that?) Have queried but now being ignored.

any ideas on getting this working would be much appreciated.
