I have bought a fair bit on Ebay over the years but now I have a few big electrical items to sell and thought I would try Ebay.

I was thinking of asking for cash on collection. Can I ask the buyer to sign something to confirm pick up (else I have no proof that they got the item)

How do I make sure I don;t get false money or conned in some way...we need this money to fund christmas.

Any hints would be welcome.

We are selling large TV. Cinema Surround sound, DVD player and TIVO Hard Disk recorder.

I had heard of people paying via paypal and then claiming they never picked up item and paypal refunding the money to the buyer !!! So you end up with no item and no money. That is why I wanted cash in my hand rather than paypal which can be taken back again.

I am more than happy to pay fees, I just don't want to be out anything.

Sadly there are a lot of people out to get something for nothing on Ebay.

I might try my luck on here as well.

Plus I'll be borrowing my dads special light which tells you if cash is dodgy, I think you can get pens which do the same.

Make sure whoever wins has a good buyer record. Put a bit on your auction saying that bidders with neg feedback/less that 10/20 buying feedback must not bid or you will cancel their bids. Bit extreme but at least you will get trusted buyers. OR, say collection is inconvienent and that you would prefer to drop off to the buyers CONFIRMED address (this will be on ebay. Therefore you know where they live should something go wrong So you can phone the police or even better, go and beat them up
