What to do if I don't receive an item?

I've ordered two things from eBay. Haven't received either, but both marked as delivered.

One was a top from a women, I spoke to her and she showed me the receipt from the post office. I don't think it's her fault that I haven't received it and I would feel bad telling eBay and they take the money back from her.

So what will actually happen if I let eBay know? If these items are down as delivered but I don't have them, does this just mean I've lost my money and the items?

If they have been posted, and the seller has proof of postage, they can claim that back from the courier/royal mail. You can tell ebay, you will get the refund, and the seller will be able to include that in their claim to Royal mail.

Is there proof of delivery, or just proof of posting?

@1987qwerty It was a receipt you get when you send something at the post office.

So 'marked as despatched' not 'delivered' then.

With no proof of delivery Paypal will give you a refund. As already stated seller can try and reclaim from Post Office. I'd probably leave it for a week after it was sent before raising an 'item not received' claim. If they still don't refund you start a claim on Paypal.

It's a bit tough on the seller but that's the way it goes.
