i won a set of slimming world books on ebay and paid for 1st class postage. The seller says they were posted 2 weeks ago tomorrow. I know there were stirkes but surely it should be here by now, especially as it was 1st class?? I have emailed her but no reply as yet?

If it has got lost what do i do? Or what can i expect her to do?

oh and the amish paradise is so funny, my dh however particularly likes the canadian idiot one, not sure about it, although my canadian relatives are all the things it mentions but i have always thought they are not particularly typical canadians

I have 4 missing from the postal strike and am at the point of going to a dispute.

I also have someone who posted an item with no postage stamp on it after an ebay auction so I had to pay postage to them and then postage to collect it as well as a fine

omeN666 · 27/10/2007 15:17

I recieved a top this morning posted on the 6th oct. Honestly I would try not to worry as talking to lady in post office they are taking ages to catch up and things posted now are actually going as priority!!

bubblagirl · 27/10/2007 15:21

Beelliesebub · 27/10/2007 16:03

I've got one item I'm waiting for, I paid for it on the 10th of October and I've just realised that it's gotta come from Liverpool. See here!
I think I could be waiting for some time.

squilly · 27/10/2007 16:58

I deal on Ebay and have had a few items go missing. I tried to use a courier where I could, but if the item goes for a couple of quid and you've only charged 2nd class post, that's what you have to use!

The Royal Mail webpage says that you can't claim back anything until 15 working days after something has not arrived. Not counting weekends, from 10th October, that would make it 5th November, so you might have to wait til then before your sender can claim back.

You've got a good window of time during which you can ask for your money back via Paypal (if you paid that way) or you can report the seller to Ebay, if you don't think they're being helpful.

I know it's not much help, but being patient might be the best bet til November 5th...then go for them!!

hi all

i have now got the item, it arrived today, sunday by the mail van - thought they werent doing overtime but who cares, i have it now.

i have noticed that whilst i paid 2.75 for 1st class post the seller has paid just over £1 for 2nd class - firstly, no wonder it didnt get to me before the strikes (it would have if she had paid for 1st class) and secondly, the auction clearly listed the postage method as 1st class - am i right to be a bit peeved?

and the book has writing in it which she has scribbled out, not mentioned in the auction

as you didn't get the service you paid for you are entitled to a refund for the difference.

how did she describe the book?

gingernutlover · 28/10/2007 16:01

she didnt list it as perfect or excellent condition, but also did not mewntion the writing - its no big deal and i would have paid the price even if it had been mentioned but feel a bit annoyed when considring the wrong postage too

bump

am io being unreasonable to complaon about these things? she has not returned emails yet but only sent yesterday morning

I would certainly mention that you paid for 1st and only got 2nd - she 'should' refund the difference to you.

As for the writing in it - it's a tricky one. Yes she should have mentioned it but some book sellers use the standards (good, very good, fine etc) as a coverall. ie 'good' would include signs of wear, creases and inscriptions.
I personally mention everything worth noting, but not all do.

You could message her and mention all your concerns and ask her if she is prepared to offer a partial refund or should you return it for a full refund.
Returning it would cost you approx £1.70 rec del 2nd class and paypal would refund you the total amount paid.

spottyshoes · 29/10/2007 20:09

I bought a funky outfit for ds to wear on Halloween and it still hasnt arrived after being posted 2.5 weeks ago. Feel really annoyed as I dont really need it after halloween
No you're not being unreasonable at all, it is a contract afterall. I'm terribly lazy and often after i've got it, cant be bothered to complain when something arrives 2nd class if I've paid for 1st.
It's not on though and v annoying about the writing! I bought a book from amazon for a present and it had been signed by the author dedicated to the previous owner! Very nice for the previous owner but not for me - didnt mention that in the listing either
Hope you get everything resolved.
