Do you think this will put people off?

I put an item on a ten day listing and almost immediately received one bid. (appears that buyer is new to ebay).

a couple of days later she messaged me asking me to delete her bid as she didn't realise she was bidding for something she already had (ok fine, i didn't question it, just did as she asked).

i have never cancelled a bid before and didnt realise that it would show on the listing. i found this out when i searched the same item to see how many others were on, what people were asking etc etc.

when i entered my reason for cancelling the bid, i just put that buyer requested cancellation.

i have been buying and selling on ebay for about 3 years, have 100% feedback. i did put on the listing that there was some very minor damage to the item, im always as honest as possible.

so...do you think the fact potential buyers can see the bid was cancelled will put them off? and if so, what can i do about it without drawing attention to it?

Can you amend the listing and put in the description the reason for the cancellation. I think you can amend your listing if you have no bids on it. It is was me it wouldn't put me off - I may poss email the seller to ask for more detail if it was a big/expensive item. I think 100% feedback is more important.

The buyer who put the bid in on your item can cancel her bid - providing it is done with more than 24hrs left to go - you need to tell her to go to the 'bid retraction' form. That way it will come up on your listing that the buyer withdrew her bid NOT you cancelling her bid.

too late for that! like i say ive never had to do that before, she asked to cancel which i did.

bum. do you really think i should draw attention to it? is there any way i can amend the comment i filled in on the cancellation form?

Sorry. I didn't realise you'd already cancelled her bid.

If you've still got more than 24hrs left you can amend (if no other bids on the item) or add to (if there is a current bid) to the description and I would put something like this:

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BID PLACED ON.....BY.....WAS CANCELLED AT THE REQUEST OF THE BUYERANY QUESTIONS PLEASE EMAIL ME.

i still have 6 days left, do think its better to point it out though?

Yep I would....and invite potential buyers to email you in case they are at all concerned. TBH if someone wants something that badly they'll bid anyway!
