Hi urgent advice needed please..... I am relatively new to ebay and sold a pram on a 'buy it now' at the start of the week and someone bid and won it. I was very pleased (need the space.

The person only has 5 + feedback, emailed and she sounded nice enough saying could she pay cash on arrival I said no probs and she was coming tonight at 7pm (ps, was this my first mistake should I have insisted on payment by paypal before she came - in a nut shell is cash on collection good when youre the seller?)

Anyway now i have just had an email saying sorry I found out last night My mother in law bought me one I dont need yours but let me pay fees i have your address...

I am not very happy and am not convinced re the I will send you money bit as wouldnt someone say how much will I pay? and also she is presuming a cheque/postal order is ok? when infact if anything id like the fees back re paypal.

Where do I stand with regards to ebay as she has in effect won this item and let me know at the very last gasp re her change of heart when I had the pram all looked out - in the least I think she could have let me know as soon as she knew about the pram bought for her ....or do you think im just tired and cranky! be honest!

Please tell me what to say as im a very tired mummy tonight, ill need to reply to her.... ps, the fees arent much, under £2.50 x

thank you very much all advice greatly appreciated x x

Only EVER take cash on collection for collections - paypal payment can be reversed when they get home and you will have no proof that item has been collected.

If you file a non payment dispute and select mutual withdrawal of sale - and ask her to fill her in part of it - you will get your fees back

sixlostmonkeys · 19/10/2007 17:33

oh and she won't get a strike or anything if you do mutual withdrawal

and I repeat - NEVER take paypal for collections

mumofDJ · 19/10/2007 17:35

oh ok so cash on collection is essential, would you be a bit cheesed off or am I just tired out?

If the next lowest bid is acceptable then offer it to them as a second chance bidder - if not then do the mutual withdrawal process and relist it, You'll not even have to rewrite the listing! As for being cheesed off, at least she notified you instead of not turning up at all.
