Do i have to give a refund now???

I posted something by courier, DHL, on a next day service on 5th October and it still hasn't arrived!

I have provided buyer with a copy of Proof of Posting, and tracking numbers and DHL contact number - and have contacted them myself on two occasions. Yesturday they said she would have it delivered that day - but she messaged me today to say still not arrived!

I rund DHL today and said i wanted to make a claim and they are sending me a form out.

Now the buyer has got quite abrubt and says because i can claim from DHL she wants an immediate paypal refund of her money.

Do i have to give it now??? Surely i can wait until i get my money (if i do) from DHL and then give it her???

Otherwise i have lost item, and postage costs?? and got nothing!

Also - does anyone know if the courier will refund me for the amount of the package - or my money for the item and the money that they paid for the item - as if they just give me the value and i refund her surely i have lost out again!

I thought i was ok as long as i had proof of posting? I have tried to look in ebay/paypal rules but soooo confused!

I would e-mail her and say that she can have her refund as soon as you get the money from DHL.
Have DHL confirmed that the parcel is lost/undelivered???

the worst she can do is leave you negative. In which case you could just not give her a refund- so it's in her interest not to negative you.
does that make sense?

Yes it does. Thank you

No DHL, when i last spoke to them said that it would be delivered to her yesturday.

When i called for the claim form they just took my address to send it and didn't the parcel details - i got the impression it was a different department?

I would happily leave it as i am sure that it will get there from what they were saying yesturday - but she isn't 'willing to wait any longer'.

I'd definitely make her wait. because as well, what if it arrives tomorrow or something? then she has the refund and the parcel.

I'd contact DHL again as well and just make sure what hte status is of the delivery.

if she paid with paypal and opens a dispute they will refund her.
You need to refund her the full amount she paid, then you make your claim. Not sure how DHL work but royal mail work something like - they ask you for a print out of the ebay listing/ invoice and then they refund you that amount

OMG - ive just call DHL who have said that they called to deliver on 17th and yesturday but nobody was there. So i contacted the lady and asked her to call them to rearrange a suitable delivery time. She then messaged me saying she still wanted a refund as compensation for the time it took!

Surely this can't be right???

not right at all- she wasn't in!

keep her emails to copy into paypal should she try that method of getting a refund

SHAZxMAC · 19/10/2007 12:00

Thanks - thought it couldn't be right! people like this really put me off ebay!

And thats not fair cause the majority of people im sure are fab to deal with.

dont let her get you down- Dh ahs sold hundreds (almost a thousand) of items on his ebay listing and only 2 or 3 people have ever tried it on- always sortable. And that's electronic things so easy to 'fix' if you want claim its broken.

SHAZxMAC · 19/10/2007 12:05

I wont do - will be interesting to see her reply now x

I would not refund her as someone else suggested let her raise a paypal dispute if you have a tracking number and the item is eventually delivered you can show this, if the item doesnt arrive then she will get her refund. If you just refund her and the parcel does turn up then I am not sure you can get the money back and you are dependent on her being honest to get the parcel back

helenhismadwife · 19/10/2007 12:14

oops lesson to me dont open the thread and go and make lunch for dc she sounds a pia ignore her if she threatens you with negative if you dont refund her report her to ebay as this is against the rules.
