Has anyone else had this email re: fees?

Not received this. Would be great if it were true but suspect it may be fraud as it’s asking you to update bank details

Yes that's what I thought! Looks a bit scammy doesn't it? I haven't opened it thankfully 😅

Ebay has changed the way payments are made to business sellers away from paypal (they refer to it as managed payments). I don't know if they are rolling this out to private sellers too. But I would make any changes if requested to do so direct to your ebay account and not via an email which might well be dubious.

Best way to check is to click on the sender address. Even if it is named ebay barclays paypal whatever once you see the actual email address is very obviously spammy.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/11/2020 18:50

I haven't had a message via the app, usually if I get an email it shows on the app as well as a message.

It would be good if it was true though, I hate paying PayPal fees Grin

The email address is [email protected]

Can't work out if I think that's scammy or not

Definitely scammy 😬

Random numbers are a massive hint

Don’t touch with a barge pole.

If it was real you’d have it in your eBay messages too.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 18/11/2020 19:25

Yeah it is isn't it? Simple fact that no one else had had it. Looks legit though, most scams are a little tatty round the edges when you look closer at them but this is a good one. Even the fact they have my old name not my married name.

Should I report it then? They must have a scam department??!

Forward the email to [email protected]

I read a whole thread about this on the Money Saving Expert forum yesterday, and it does appear to be real - but it should definitely be a message to your ebay account, not just as an email.

I would have thought such a huge change would have been better advertised too, but there you go.....

thenewaveragebear1983 · 19/11/2020 07:14

@rabbitwoman thanks I will try to find that article.

Update to my original post, I have now had a follow up email and it's showing on eBay , so contrary to my original thoughts it appears to be legit
