“What’ll you take for X item?”

I’m always happy to get offers if they are realistic - even if I’ve not added an offer option to an auction.

But why do some people send messages asking what you’d take for an item? As if it’s a boot fair. It always makes me think “the auction is set to start at £x, so that’s what I’d take!”

AIBU to be grumpy about this? Do you reply to these messages?

It's annoying but I always just reply with a bland generic response such as 'Selling this for someone else so I'm obliged to let the auction run'. Shuts them up!

just give them a high amount, they'll either go away or offer you that amount, can't hurt to try

Yeah it's annoying, along with 'but I've only got £10' when you've said £12, well in that case you can't afford it Hmm
