Do you have a partner? If so, I would make sure he is there and leave him to deal with the buyer.

If not, I would tell the buyer you do not wish to do this.

ERm - say no! Sorry - but that's ebay - you're not a department store and you shouldn't let a complete stranger into your house for that reason.

no he could be casing the joint... if you were selling a car or motorbike or something v large and expensive maybe.....

sixlostmonkeys · 16/10/2007 18:56

sorry...can't stop laughing at this! Must be a first...

and yes, tell him "no"

sixlostmonkeys · 16/10/2007 18:59

ohhhh now I've got the giggles

dear seller, please can i call round and listen to your CD before I bid?"

dear seller, please may I call round and put my plastic flowers in that vase you are selling before I bid?"

dear seller, please may I call round and read the first page of that book....

ok ok I'll stop

I know it sounds ridiculous - it was a first for me! I have told the buyer it's not possible - I just wanted to check if this had happened to anyone else!

no - the only messages I get are "The postal strike is over WHERE'S MY BOOK?!?!"

....still giggling

ChippyMinton · 16/10/2007 19:17

definately no, part of the fun of ebay is taking a chance and ending up with stuff you can't use

I was selling a pair of knee length boots and had an email asking me to supply photo's of me in the boots while wearing a skirt!

fedupwasherwoman · 17/10/2007 10:48

Oh there was a thread a while back where posters all put an old, very well used pair of ladies shoes on ebay (the larger the size the better) to see if they really could get bids on the stuff and plenty did.

They too got asked for pictures of the boots/shoes being worn but many did get bids and sold their items to enthusiasts of well-worn ladies footwear.

Sounds like an easy way to raise cash for Christmas ?
