Another E mail from Ebay but I’ve already responded ???

A buyer has started a claim for a refund.

The item was collected by him in person, over 3 weeks ago.

I am absolutely certain that the fault that he is claiming was not there when he collected this item. I’ve followed the procedure outlined in the e mails that I’m getting from eBay and have twice replied with my reasons for not accepting the return request.
Today I’ve got another e mail from eBay telling me that the buyer wants to return the item for a refund. Is this just an automatic e mail beucas the case is still open does anyone know? Or do I need to respond again?
TIA

ebay are notorious for siding with the buyer no matter what

they terrible platform to sell on .

i sold a bag the buyer wanted a refund (which was fine ) ebay gave her a refund but she never returned the bag so she keeps the item and her money

when i raised it with ebay they saiid there was nothing they could do !!!

i went on sellers forum and it seems to be a common problem with ebay thry’re happy to take commission but dont play by their own contractual rules

i closed my account

Sorry to hear that Hustler
There’s quite a bit of money at stake here so I do hope that doesn’t happen

Yes they send emails even if you have responded. They will send them because the claim is still open. Just ignore it. If the buyer doesn't get back to you, and neither of you escalate it the claim will eventually automatically close. Do not escalate it yourself!

Thanks TP
I’ll sit tight.

I'm fuming!! Ebay have found in the buyer's favour.

And if they decide to send it to me via post, I have to pay the charges!! It's a bloody dressing table! It will cost a fortune.

And I am still adamant that itt was not faulty. What can I do now? I cant find anything on Ebay about disputing their decision.

How did the buyer pay?

happytodayhappytomorrow · 08/10/2020 19:58

paypal. That's been frozen.

Oh dear.
I have no advice but I have always been advised that one should not accept PayPal for collected items: cash on collection, inspect at collection.
I hope you manage to resolve it or at least collect the item.

happytodayhappytomorrow · 08/10/2020 21:20

They offered cash or Paypal but because they’d mucked me about so much with the collection day/time I said PayPal as I knew that once they’d paid, they would collect. I’ve learnt my lesson well and truly.

Oh sorry to hear this OP. I never accept PayPal for collection- the buyer could collect then say they never received it and PayPal will refund them as you don't have official proof of postage. I can't believe they are charging you postage, surely they should bring it back if it was collection only? Some people are a joke, you would check it over when collecting surely. 🙄
