Thanks very much for that.
I expect they will be inundated with claims!

As justjules says, there are a growing number of sellers who state they are not responsible for items lost or damaged in the post and always obtain proof of postage to pass on to the buyer. Eventually they will realise just how wrong this statement is because a seller is responsible. It is a seller's responsisbility to ensure that the item gets delivered, not just posted.
Should an item get lost in the post, a seller must refund and make the claim themselves with the royal mail. If they refuse, a buyer can simply file a item not received dispute and paypal will simply refund the money

nikkid21 · 11/10/2007 16:43

How long have you been waiting for this item? I have items that I posted on Monday 1st that still haven't arrived because the posties effectivly did no work between Wednesday 3rd and 10th.

The seller can't claim as lost from Royal Mail until 15 working days after postage and strikes don't count as working days. eg I can't claim for something sent on the 1st of October until Tuesday the 30th! That assuming that they don't strike anymore.

bubblagirl · 11/10/2007 16:55

i ordered a top last month some time in the beginning only just arrived the strikes really are holding things up i gave it 4 weeks before reporting but it turned up yesterday

1dilemma · 11/10/2007 21:07

Thanks Guys I payed with paypal but got it from somewhere else (sorry I didn't make that clear) can I still file an item not received dispute? It was from early September sometime so I would expect it by now. We have had nothing since the strikes supposedly finished (are they back on again?)although I was nearly hit by royal mail van tonight so I suppose someone is driving around!! I'm happy to wait a few more days.....

Hi,
No mattern what the seller says. It is their responsibility to claim through Royal Mail for non delivered items as they are royal mails customer not you. (Hope that makes sense).
The seller has to wait 15 days before they can put in a claim.

I tend to offer to refund after fourteen days but as the moment I may ask my customers to be a bit more patient.

Please contact the seller to ask for a refund before escalating to an item not recieved so they have the opportunity to sort it out themsleves.

1dilemma · 15/10/2007 23:25

Thanks
Does anyone know if I can do an item not received thingy on paypal for a non e-bay item? We did get out first post for about 2 weeks today really randon selection of letters but only around 2 days worth.
I'm happy to wait but suddenly none of the people I bought stuff of have replied to any e-mails since I asked them to claim via post office!!
