How to find someone willing and able to collect large and very heavy items bought on eBay and deliver them?

Thinking of buying something huge and hugely heavy (needing 2-3 people to lift heavy) - I feel sure it must be possible to find men with a van who would be willing to collect and deliver for a fee? Has anyone done this?

Have you asked on your local Facebook site? Or googled ‘man with a van’, or local courier companies?

Piano?

I've used this website a few times, always good!

I've used Shiply for stuff like that. Not recently, but several times a few years ago.

Make sure they are insured. Can you ask to see their third party liability insurance certificate prior.

If they pick up your unit/couch/stuffed elephant and drop and break it you will have to bear the cost of repairs otherwise.

I’d also go in my car/by train or whatever and meet them when collecting the item. That way when it arrives damaged and they say ‘it was like that already missus’ you will know whether that’s true or not if you inspected it then watch them load it personally. Photograph it’s condition also when collecting before it’s loaded. Then if it arrives damaged you will have evidence of their attempts to fib.
