Just wanted to have a rant really. I spotted a seller who had various Lego friends sets listed. I bid on 2. Won 1 and lost out at the last second to the other. There’s other stuff ending in a few days so messaged them asking if I’d be ok to wait and see if I won any of them to combine postage.

As I was typing the message a second chance offer came through for the set I didn’t win and the excuse was that the buyer’s daughter had bid on it at the last minute. Briefly chuffed then I looked at the bids history. Both items had someone with the same user ID blocked out and a feedback of 3.

So I turned detective and looked at their sold items. They’ve been using the same account to bid items up and then offering second chance offers if it gets to a price they’re happy with.

I’m surprised ebay don’t have an algorithm that detects this to be honest. They seem to monitor just about everything else Hmm I mean, call me cynical but are they now turning a blind eye to this as it makes them more money in the end?

Basically they rely on people complaining that they are violating the rules

eBay take a cut so I suppose it benefits them if this happens.

eBay do have an algorithm for it but it only gets repeat offenders.

Complain about it if you like, but if you want to buy multiple products you may be better off contacting and negotiating a price you are happy with for the goods you want.
