Buyer with private feedback? Scam?

I'm selling an item for £150, buy it now with offers allowed.

Offer comes through at £110 so I counteroffer it with £120.

They have accepted the counter offer but not paid, but it's only been a few hours. So I've just brought up their profile and they have (private) where their feedback score should be.

I'm actually quite an experienced ebayer and I've seen this private setting but never dealt with it personally. I've seen other sellers put 'no private feedback bidders will be tolerated' (or words to that effect) in their listings as if they've been burnt before. I'm tempted to cancel the transaction.

Can anyone shed any light?

I've seen that and assumed that they are buying or selling stuff that they don't want others to know about or is embarrassing in some way Smile

Ebay and paypal protection will still apply won't they?

You'd hope so but eBay has swung everything so far into the buyers favour recently that I'm not convinced.

All this hoo-hah aside, I find it so annoying when people don't pay immediately! Why offer or bid on something if you haven't the means to pay straight away. They accepted the offer and ended the item then buggered off.
