Is it safer to pay by cash or PayPal die collected items?

From the sellers point of view, you've got your money pre pick up so it's insurance against no shows etc. They are obviously much more likely not to let you down if they've paid up front.
Cash is obviously iffy at the moment, but you do pay a fee on PayPal transactions so it's worth using their fee calculator to see how much and if it's worth it to you.

For the seller PayPal on a collected item is dangerous - you can get home with their item and say you never got it. Without tracked postage the seller can't prove it was sent.
