Fraudulent listings

I spotted an ebay listing yesterday that uses photos regularly used by fraudsters to sell spurious tractors. As further evidence, the ebayer is shown as living in the US, but the scammer has listed the tractor as being in the UK.

(I think the scam involves contacting bidders and luring them off ebay to try and get them to pay for a non-existent item.)

Some time ago, I reported a few similar false listings, and they were taken down quickly. At that time, ebay gave a suitable option on the item page. Yesterday, I discovered the same option is no longer available, and instead I've had to report the ebayer whose account has been hacked.

However, although I reported the fraudulent listing to ebay 24 hours ago, the listing is still up, and has 7 separate bidders who are potential targets. Hmm

Why does ebay make it so hard to report this sort of fraud now???

Do you mean your 'report item' button is no longer there?

On an item for sale, there's an option to report - a small link on the right near the Description tab down the page.

When I tried to report a few days ago, it didn't give me all the options. I guess it was a glitch, as when I look now, it gives me the full range:
File a report>Listing practices>Links, logos, and videos>Links encouraging outside bids or purchases
[In fact, there wasn't a link - it was much more subtle, but they used a photo frequently used in the past for the scam]

Ebay did finally remove the listing - it was for a 2010 John Deere x540 Garden Tractor - but only a day or two after the listing had ended, and ten people had bid. I hope none of them fell for the scam.

I know they have thousands of fraudulent listings, but it just really annoys me that they don't do more about it. I've seen the attached photo used on numerous listings from accounts that have obviously been hacked.
