I sent an eBay parcel off last Tuesday 2nd Class signed for. It sold for £70, but the buyer has opened a refund request today as 'item not recieved'.

I've checked royal mail with the reference number and it only says about it being recieved by the post office I sent it off in, no information about an attempted delivery or being signed for by the receiver.

Does anyone know what I need to do to proceed from here? I have the receipt as proof of posting. I have also emailed him to say I will chase it up. Should u call royal mail to see if it has been attempted?

Thank you in advance

That should say messaged him on ebay, not email.

You need proof of delivery to win a not received case. However post is taking longer than normal (which can be up to a week with 2nd class anyway!) due to CV19 and I think the buyer has a been a bit hasty in opening a case.

I would advise messaging them and advising that eBay delivery estimates are very optimistic at the best of times even without CV19 delays, and politely ask them to wait until the end of the week for it to arrive. If it doesn’t show up then refund them and claim back from Royal Mail, although I think you’re only covered up to £50 with signed for.

You have a week from when the buyer opens the case to resolve the matter. If you don’t and eBay step in you will receive a defect on your sellers account and can more than likely expect negative feedback from your buyer.

PS make sure you upload the tracking number against the sales record so if it is delivered this will be displayed immediately.

@19lottie82 thank you. I've spoken to royal mail who said similar, that it's likely delayed. But if not I will try to claim through Royal mail
