Ebay dispute - PLEASE look at this listing for me!!

I bought this tumble dryer on ebay. When DH went to collect it, it transpired that it actually has a separate condensing kit (like this) rather than a condenser dryer as we expected. It is also not in 'great condition' and as he is (by his own admission) the second owner of the machine, I don't see how he can assert that it's 'hardly been used'.

DH left it with the seller (no point in taking it cos we can't have vented dryer), and he said we could have our money back if he managed to sell it.

I have emailed him to say that we think it has been misadvertised and he replied with the following:

"If you look at the advert it says its been used.It says it has a condensing unit and dosen't dosen't state that its integrated inside. On my advert it says any questions feel free to email me as people have done but not you."

Do you think it's unreasonable to have to read between the lines of his advert to figure out that the condensing unit (i.e. kit) is not integrated? Was the onus on me to question it? I had never even heard of a separate condensing kit until today!

Sorry this is long. Any advice would be appreciated.

You are right. The machine advertised was (at least) originally a condenser dryer.

It should have been made clear in the advert that it was now a vented dryer.

I'd be hopping!

Mind you, you know that old saying - buyer beware!!!!!!!!!!

Having read the listing, i to feel that the seller has been very misleading, it upto him to decribe the item correctly, its no for you read between the lines ect.

I personally dont think that this fella has any intention on giving you your money back. If he had then im sure that he would have relisted the dryer by now. I would email him and ask for a full refund.

If the seller refuses then make a claim via paypal for item not recieved !!, he has no proof of postage therefore paypal WILL refund you (but it probably wont get that far). As this seller will obviously has no proof of delivery!! .

He should never has listed this item with paypal as a payment option, items that are for collection only should only be listed as cash only.

I know that this may seem really crafty, but this seller hasnt been entirley honest and at this point has your money and the dryer, and has made no effort to refund you !!.

good thinking!

I have that drier. I am sure that ebay listed one is a condenser with the unit removed (as per Wandering Trolley's description). In the picture from the front, there are 3 lights on the RHS (show as black dots on the first picture). These lights are for "Drying", "clean filter" and, "empty water".

If I were you I would escalate your dispute to a claim.

I think you are bound to win the case. He has mis-sold you this item. It was up to him to specify that the condensing kit is separate. A 'condensing unit' would be understood by most people to be integrated. If you google 'condensing unit', you come up with results for condensing dryers, not for a separate piece of equipment.

And that hole looks very suspicious to me. My Hotpoint dryer is vented and doesn't have a hole.

Good Luck!
