So many subtly abusive, unpleasant people on eBay nowadays

Is it just me or is this getting worse?

I’ve had sellers telling me I’m rude upon requesting a refund when an item wasn’t in the condition described and damage deliberately not photographed.

As for buyers, there seem to be more people who nitpick to get an refund, hoping you’ll allow them to keep the item.

Just had a lady give me bad feedback because the item which she bought over the weekend arrived on Thurs 🤷🏻‍♀️ She also nit picked and said there was wear to the pocket, there may have been a bit of fluff/dust or something but definitely nothing permanent ffs it’s a second-hand coat!

When eBay first took off, users generally were quite nice pleasant people. Now it’s just constant argy-bargy. People are so horrid.

I’ve tried Shpock but sales are much slower which isn’t great when you just want to clear out.

I agree about some sellers. I only advertise a very small number of items to sell and luckily have only had positive experiences with buyers so far. One repeat buyer is a joy to do business with. My only slight gripe is when you go the extra mile for buyers, which you know they really appreciate via a message to you afterwards, but then they don't leave any feedback at all for other potential buyers to read. Large scale sellers might not miss it, but for very small scale sellers every feedback matters. But about sellers - on the thankfully very few occasions I have had to leave negative but fair feedback following quite extremely bad transactions, the sellers have been vile. Looking at one such seller in particular, he leaves vile feedback in response to anyone who leaves him seemingly deserved negative feedback. It just makes me conclude that the service they provide matches the people they are.

On a separate note, eBay seems a little quiet recently - unless you are selling Coronavirus/stockpile items!

The other thing that seems to be getting worse is being spammed by larger/business sellers once you've bought something from them.

I'm still a nice seller. Maybe biased! We get the odd stroppy customer but most are nice. We are very quiet too. Priorities, understandably, not on buying secondhand books at the moment.

I’ve been selling on eBay for 18 years with generally very few problems
Last week was the first week ever I have had no sales!
Guessing everyone too pre occupied with Coronavirus
