... it's fake isn't it? No matter how cleverly they try to word it?

OP posts:
MrsSpoon · 05/09/2007 18:49

Or even worse, nicked???

OP posts:
smeeinit · 05/09/2007 18:51

can you do a link to it?

Desiderata · 05/09/2007 18:53

Maybe not. It depends how low, and what type of seller it is.

I used to sell designer gear on eBay, but things are tough at the moment due to decreased visibility, and it may just be that the seller is only looking to make a couple of quid on the deal.

Being nicked wouldn't prompt them to keep the price low ... quite the opposite, I'd have thought!

Check out their feedback, and look at the other things they've sold recently. If they sell in quantity, a couple of quid per item can add up.

Here is one, TBH I'm not sure if it is a bit chavtastic (for want of a better word), this one seems v cheap and I thinkthis colour is lovely.

OP posts:
Desiderata · 05/09/2007 18:57

Are those the bags you referred to in your OP?

flowerybeanbag · 05/09/2007 18:58

those are all v cheap for a Chloe Paddington I would say. They are not pictures of the actual bags either are they? I would be a bit suss.

MrsSpoon · 05/09/2007 18:58

Yes, although I really covet a Mulberry (I don't know what's happened to me never used to give a monkeys about handbags ) but they are out of my league.

OP posts:
MrsSpoon · 05/09/2007 18:59

They are hundreds cheaper, I am very sus.

The out of stock bit made me think perhaps stolen to order?

OP posts:
Desiderata · 05/09/2007 19:03

It should all be in the feedback. If they're selling fakes on a large scale, eBay would have sussed them by now.

Isn't the whole point of eBay that you get stuff much cheaper? I mean, your suspicions may be grounded, MrsSpoon, but don't look a gifthorse in the mouth

MrsSpoon · 05/09/2007 19:04

This is scrummy but will have gone through the roof by tomorrow.

But the seller mentions a serial number on the bag. Surely, if it was stolen, the serial number would be traceable?

I would contact her and ask her to tell you what the serial number is. Then you can check with Chloe before committing.

MrsSpoon · 05/09/2007 19:07

It's a lot of money to me Desderida (in fact I'm questioning my santity even considering it) I just don't want to get screwed. I'm not sure about that big padlock.

OP posts:
MrsSpoon · 05/09/2007 19:10

Oh, can you do that Desderida? I am totally clueless about handbags.

OP posts:
MrsSpoon · 05/09/2007 19:14

Thanks Desderida I have emailed the seller of the one I like best, think I must be having a mid-life crisis.

OP posts:
Desiderata · 05/09/2007 19:41

Yes, I must admit, MrsSpoon, that the early onset of the handbagopause seems likely

Still, if it makes you happy, eh?

MrsSpoon · 05/09/2007 19:42

Think I may be onto something here look at this this site is selling copy bags (notably buy one get one free on their Chloe copies) and they state that they have a serial number etc.

OP posts:
MrsSpoon · 05/09/2007 19:46

ROFL at handbagopause, problem is I can't really afford handbagopause so hopefully it will wear off.

Desiderata · 05/09/2007 19:51

Oooh, I'm confused now. Are you saying that this company are legitimately selling copy Chloe handbags? Not the real McCoy?

How can they do that?

Or are you saying that the seller has used the BOFOF option, and that is how she's managed to sell real Chloe handbags so cheaply?

MrsSpoon · 05/09/2007 20:06

I am of course surmising but the company below says that it sells designer inspired handbags and it has a special offer at the moment on Chloe inspired handbags (ie copies, they have Chloe swing tags hanging from them in the pictures) anyhow I reckon that their are e-Bay sellers either affiliated with this company or buying these buy one get one free bags up (possibly why one e-Bayer said that the requested bag was "out of stock", note that their delivery time is 10-15 days and the website selling the copies says 10 days ), of course I could be completely wrong I will await my response from the e-Bay seller.

Almost bid on a Mulberry then couldn't bring myself to actually do it, it went for way about my budget in the end anyhow (I have been given some money DH tells me it is burning a hole in my pocket, TBH he is probably right, quicker I get it to the bank and put to good and sensible use the better ).

MrsSpoon · 05/09/2007 20:32

Thanks Scottishmummy, I have decided to steer clear, I agree with you that they are fakes.
