Curious if this has happened to anyone else.

There was a skirt I really liked with a starting bid of £30 or make an offer, and postage of £2.90.
I know I was trying my luck, but I offered them £30 as a buy it now. I got a counter offer of £40, but the postage had been upped to £11!
(Its being posted royal mail second class, not signed for, not tracked, and like I said, it's a skirt!)
If I hadn't seen it with my own eyes I wouldn't have thought it was possible.
I think it was a sneaky way to get extra money without me noticing, has this happened to anyone else?

I ignored the offer and I won't be bidding on it as i don't trust such a sneaky tactic.

I haven’t seen that either but will look out for it in future. Is it worth reporting to eBay?

Or was it just an error on the seller's part?

Sellers don’t pay fees on postage so they try to make more profit by increasing this.

I would absolutely point this out to ebay but bear in mind I suspect the seller may only get a slap on the wrist.

Yes they do.

Sellers get specifically graded on whether postage is reasonable.

I guess it's good reminder to always look at the full price with delivery charge; ignore separated totals.

In the old days sellers didn't pay fees on postage but that changed a good while ago. Inflating the postage was classed as fee avoidance.

Not sure what this one would be classed as, I don't think there is a report option for cheeky fucker. But yes, it would be one to make the stars down on for postage if you bought it. If you don't also sell on the same ID I would be sending them a message pointing it out. And one to Ebay as they can check but won't do anything about it.
