I bought a mobile phone on a Thursday, seller emailed me that night to say he was going on holiday on the Friday but would post on the Tuesday when he got back. Wed and Thurs passed with no phone and I then went on holiday on the Friday. I returned last night (Sunday) to find Royal Mail had tried to deliver it on the Friday but no one was in. As it was sent recorded delivery they would send it back to sender within 7 days if I didn't collect it; obviously I couldn't do this as I wasn't there and it was 9 days before I returned so it has been sent back. I've emailed the seller as I'm unsure as to waht to do now with regards to paying for reposting it; I was in the wrong for not stating I would be away for that week but I feel he was also in the wrong for not posting it when he said he would (had he done so I would have told him I would be away). I'm probably also in the wrong for not checking the situation with posting if I wasn't there to collect it (am just about to recheck listing to see if he stated it would be recorded delivery).
Any advice would be much appreciated

has he deffo got the package back, i was under the impression that they sent it to the sorting office and youhad a matter of weeks to pick the parcel up....e mail him and ask for the tracking order then ring royal mail up.if he has recieved the item back then you will probably have to pay for it to be re delivered

THe item was returned to the sorting office but because it was recorded delivery they only hold it for 7 days before sending back. He hasn't replied to my email yet but as he hasn't got in touch I'm assuming he hasn't received it back yet.
The listing doesn't state that it will be sent recorded delivery, just seller's standard rate- our postie normally leaves regular parcels with neighbours or in our designated 'safe place'
