Aargh we are first timers selling on ebay and have been messed around twice already

After buying a few bits me and Dh decided to take the plunge and sell on ebay.
We have a digital radio (DH has upgraded ours) where the buyer pressed the 'buy it now' button and we heard nothing she then emailed us to say she had made a mistake and didn't want it.
Dh was quite cross about this and took it to a dispute so we got our fees back but she didn't get a bad mark.
He has just won in a competion a PSP and put that on and it looks like it has been won by a scammer. They want us to gift wrap it and post it to Nigeria...
Dh has done a bit of research and found this person has done this before so has contacted Ebay....arrrgh

My friend was asked to wrap up his laptop in birthday paper and send it somewhere overseas- scammers kept the money and laptop. cheeky barks.

I was going to start selling on ebay but I've heard so many stories like this recently that I'm begining to wonder if its relly worth the hassle!

I think electronics attract these sort of people.

Now if you try selling 60s childrens' annuals I think you'll find us buyers a LOT nicer

Nigeria is classic scam material...sorry you've had such a crappy time so far. It will get easier, just that was a highly desirable item and they are targeted more than usual stuff...

If you relist, which you can do free, then alter the options on your listing form to say block bids from anyone with less than 1 feedback. It helps a bit, also 'immediate payment required' will get shot of most of the buggers

Good luck next time, definitely don't send it to Nigeria, and ignore all the emails from said party

That is, tick the box which means if they don't pay immediately, it won't be sold to them...not just write 'immediate payment' in the listing iyswim!

You have to take paypal for this option.

oh god sorry you not had a good start. i sold a mobile and it was a nigerian scam. luckily i smelt a rat so didnt send it.

then yesterday i sell a burberry bag and despite putting i will sell to uk only , the winner bidder lives in france. i tell her i wont send it due to high postage costs and i then get about 13 emails from her making threats to me etc. i was fucking losing it but got it sorted. some people take the piss, excuse my language

oooo bloody ebay - poor you hope u get a satisfactory outcome never sold on ebay so no helpful comments

littleminx - you can check the box that prevents anyone in living in countries you don't post to from bidding on your items
