what have you sold?

gringottsgoblin · 30/08/2007 17:19

did you know it was illegal?

smeeinit · 30/08/2007 17:21

blimey what is it? and how is it illegal?

southeastastra · 30/08/2007 17:29

someone must have reported you. (another seller of the same thing?)

get them to send back to you before you refund anything

dressedupnowheretogo · 30/08/2007 17:34

it was a virgin media v+ box virgin told them it was illeagal

hence her wanting a refund

so do i pay her the delivery first ?
or refund all of it as a good will gesture ???

I would arrange your own DHL courier £5.99 via pay per drop and then refund on receipt if it's in the condition that you sold it in. Not sure why her courier quote is £14?

sixlostmonkeys · 30/08/2007 17:37

don't refund until you get it returned.
As a gesture of goodwill i would offer the return postage. It needs to be returned via trackable means, and you prob already know the cost of that. Once you have it back you can refund.

I don't know anything about these things, but what is illegal about it? Just asking because you may need to check that the buyer isn't intending on sending a different box back.

smeeinit · 30/08/2007 17:38

you shouldnt ahve to pay the courier atall should you? surely its up to her to do that.
also i would ask for written confirmation from virgin to say its an illegal box before parting with any money

dressedupnowheretogo · 30/08/2007 17:41

apparently its dhl same day i think ? it was only picked up at 5pm last night

i have just spoke to virgin on the issue and yes it is illeagal to by or sell them privately as they the property of virgin at all times

isit just me or i thought they were mine to sell

she got a right bargain as well as some of them on there are going for 199.00

and can i have this pay per drop thingy link or something please

thanks to all you lovely people for replying im freaking out here

OP posts:
CarGirl · 30/08/2007 17:43

look ebay seller

payperdrop underscore uk

its all one word no spaces though, is next day & trackable and insured up to £100

I guess all you can do is sell them and pretend you've moved house??

fawkeoff · 30/08/2007 17:46

no none of the virgin boxes are ever yours to keep, thats why they dont charge you for repairs like sky do.I just sent my v+ box back to them as i think they are pants and have brought me nothing but technical difficulties

dressedupnowheretogo · 31/08/2007 09:48

well i sent her a messaqge via ebay saying it was up to her to send it back to me b4 i refnded her

she then reported me to paypal on a snag claim then tells me she has forwarded my address to virgin media

she then sent me a message at 01.00am this morning then esculated it at 01.14am as if i'm gonna be up at the time

even more annoyed now

oh and she has reported my post to ebay so i hope all the other ones have been reported

OP posts:
fawkeoff · 31/08/2007 09:52

i think shes being unfair as youcould have just said "tuff shit"....can younot refund her the money and then ring virgin up and ask them to pick it up at her house....you are not fully responsible for this...she should have done her homeework before buying.Im surprised that ebay dont know its illegal because there are loads on there.surely they should be aware of these legalities!!

dressedupnowheretogo · 31/08/2007 10:22

well ive had a message from ebay saying im not allowed to relist it as it is illeagal

my sil is a very very very experienced ebayer and she is holding my hand thru it

she says at the end of the day buyer beware and she should have checked it out before she bought so im gonna see what happens

bt thanks to you all for your advice

sixlostmonkeys · 31/08/2007 11:00

if the buyer is going through paypal to get a refund then she will have to return it by trackable means at her own cost and she will receive a refund of original cost. Bit silly of her as she now loses out on the return postage cost

gringottsgoblin · 31/08/2007 11:38

i was going to say same as 6lm, pretty good result really. just make sure you reply to her feedback if she negs you, i woulndt be put off by one neg especially if it was an honest mistake so dont worry

dressedupnowheretogo · 31/08/2007 12:12

cool cant believe this has happened

thanks
