Hoping someone on here can help with this as ive never come across it before. I ordered an item on eBay about a month ago and it never arrived so i contacted the seller for an update or refund and they said the item was at the local sorting office for me to collect Hmm i haven't received a red slip or anything from royal mail but i went down anyway and showed my ID asked if they had anything and they didn't so i went back to the seller and told them this then they proceeded to get arsey saying there was definitely a slip and i had to arrange re delivery Confused i contacted eBay to step in this week to get me a refund but now the seller has marked the item as delivered when it hasn't been ! How can i prove to eBay i never got my parcel and get my money back ? Seller has either sent it to the wrong address or is a scammer

What courier was used?

mondaypolomint · 03/12/2019 17:45

Check what addresses are listed on your eBay account. I moved house 3 years ago and I couldn't delete the address on my account

I had an item returned by a buyer and i got an email to tell me it had been delivered and returned to sender as it was sent to my old address so I went to the Royal Mail sorting office and explained what had happened and showed some ID and after some persuasion I got it back

LucaFritz · 03/12/2019 17:59

Royal mail and yes my address is correct on the account and listing so all i can think is its a scammer or they've written the address out wrong and its gone off elsewhere but she won't send me any proof to say it exists or that its been posted but she knows it's at the local sorting office as she checked for me Hmm

Ive forwarded the case to eBay now as she was getting quite rude and aggressive towards me when i asked for proof of postage and explained to her I'd been to the Royal mail office and they had nothing and i haven't had a red slip through the door so hopefully eBay can step in and sort this but im worried I'll loose my money

eBay are pretty good at siding with the buyer. She would have to produce proof of postage which she should have

mondaypolomint · 03/12/2019 19:58

Hope your get it sorted. Is there an ombudsman for eBay that you could go toor threaten them with

MarshmallowsOnToast · 03/12/2019 20:02

The seller can't just mark as delivered, they have to prove it has been.

If there's no signature (Royal Mail 1st/2nd class etc) then they will need to claim from
RM using the proof of postage.

I'm sure eBay will be able to help you.

Boltyarocket · 03/12/2019 20:10

If the sender has checked and found that the item is at the local delivery office, then they must have a tracking number that they can supply you.

Royal Mail only hold items for 18 days before returning to sender so if it was posted a month ago it would have been returned by now.

19lottie82 · 03/12/2019 20:58

Have you looked up the tracking number on the RM website to check it’s definitely your name / address?

LucaFritz · 04/12/2019 06:12

So eBay contacted me again this morning to say the seller has told them the item was never delivered and is now back with her Hmm convenient that. But no i can't have a refund via eBay i now have to go through Royal Mail and get a letter of proof it wasn't delivered then contact them again !! But no she didn't provide them with any tracking number or proof either so i don't see why they can't refund it. This whole debacle has put me off eBay now

That does not sound right at all. I can’t imagine eBay saying that? Their policy is if the item is not delivered then you should be refunded. Can you post a screen shot of the message?

19lottie82 · 04/12/2019 10:01

PS I just saw you said “about a month ago” in your OP? If the estimated delivery date was over a month ago and you didn’t open an official not received case before a month then eBay won’t get involved.

BUT you can open a case with PayPal for non receipt. You have 180 days with them, they will refund you unless the seller has proof of delivery, which they don’t.

LucaFritz · 04/12/2019 11:29

I opened the case with them about 3 weeks ago the item was supposed to arrive on the 9th or around then. Will try contacting PayPal for a refund now and see what they say. I checked the sellers feedback and she has loads of negative ones all the same as mine saying she doesn't post things out Angry eBay have really dropped the ball letting her carry on like this im not sure what she tells them to carry on like this surely they'd shut her down!

I’ve been an eBay business seller for 7 years and none of this seems to ring true at all? eBay asking you to get a letter from Royal Mail?? And a seller can’t “mark” an item as delivered, only dispatched? The only advice I can give you apart from the PayPal route, is to call eBay and speak to someone.

Daffodil101 · 04/12/2019 16:21

Is there a local address that sounds similar? I recently received a card from UPS telling me they’d tried to deliver a parcel while I was out and I had to pick it up from a local
Shop. When I got to the shop there was no parcel addressed to me.

There was however a parcel addressed to a similar address (imagine I’m 13 Rose Gardens and it’s addressed to 13 Daisy gardens). UPS had put the card through the wrong door. The intended recipient was quite pleased when I hand delivered it to save them a journey but I was royally pissed off id spent my evening collecting and delivering their bloody parcel

Bagofworries · 10/12/2019 16:57

I have recently had a similar issue. Bought an item from an ebay seller, it didnt arrive. Seller asked me to be patient since it would probably turn up in the next few days, then I was asked to check at the PO, neighbours, round my house etc. Still no parcel.
I contacted Ebay who said they would not refund me because yodel had it logged as 'left as authorised' and ebay closed the case.
I called ebay and they are point blank refusing to refund me unless I contact yodel and yodel verify via email to me that they have not delivered my parcel.
As you can imagine, yodel are not prepared to do this, so I have lost my money and still do not have a parcel.
