Item not received case opened against me for item sold back in July

I have had a buyer open an item not received case against me for an item they purchased back in mid July.

Can they actually do this and can eBay force me to give refund? It is obvious they are pulling a fast one and unfortunately I no longer have the proof of posting as it was such a long time ago now.

Did you take a photo of the receipt from the post office and upload it to eBay when you posted it, and add the tracking number? I always do that to cover myself because people are devious and I cover my back at every turn.

Pleased to say Ebay have closed the case in my favour after an online chat due to the ridiculous amount of time that has passed since the sale.

They have 30 days from when the item was delivered to open a case.
Always upload the tracking number to be safe. Ebay have never asked me for picture of proof of posting - receipt. They have always just gone off the tracking number provided.
I once had someone say the item hadn't been delivered, the day tracking said it had been delivered.
They pretended that they didn't receive it even tho tracking said they had.
I acted shocked and told them to open a case immediately. Pah, they got shot down straight away, and I knew they would, when Ebay closed it in my favour that day due to the tracking.
This was for an item of five pounds.
Surprisingly what lengths people will go to to bag a freebie.

With eBay, a buyer can open a not received case after 30 days (if the latest delivery estimate), but it’s just for communication purposes only. eBay will not force the seller to refund at this stage.

BUT......

The buyer has 180 days to open an INR case via PayPal, and unless you have proof of delivery then they will refund your buyer.

As advised always upload your tracking number against your sales record as soon as the item has been sent.

Hmmm, as a seller I always cover all possibilities. But today someone turned up at my house with a package that had been signed for, having opened it to find out where it was meant to have been delivered to.

It had been delivered 5 houses up.

Just to add to the problem it is also nothing like the description.
