Sold an item last week. Buyer was thrilled but had just been in a car crash, was getting it sorted. I emailed her a few times, no response for a week so opened a dispute. She finally replied saying she had been ill, hospitalised and no longer wanted the item.
How can you say to someone fgs just tell the truth and stop wasting my time in the first place??!
Apparently I cant do anything, only thing ebay can do is put a strike by her name as not having paid.
Sorry, needed to vent a little. The money was going towards taking dcs away, so annoyed Angry

Poor buyer (if it’s true)!

HeffaLump1 · 26/07/2019 22:44

Could be BS but you never know!
I sell quite a lot on eBay and had to message sellers to tell them their item would arrive late, once when my mum died suddenly, and another when I ended up in hospital with severe food poisoning. I remember thinking both times the buyers were probably thinking “yeah....... right!”

HeffaLump1 · 27/07/2019 03:21

I've had sellers email me about delays and I fully understand that Lottie, things happen!
Sorry to hear about your mum xx

Thank you Heffa 🥰

Whisky2014 · 27/07/2019 09:39

It doesn't make sense that just because she was in hospital she doesn't now want the item..
She has been a sneaky arse imo.

HeffaLump1 · 27/07/2019 19:12

Thank you Whisky exactly my thought. Making a silly excuse just makes her look stupid. Oh well, another relist!

Yes, and another corker is: After buying has won a auction, buyer messages seller and says sorry my daughter bidded on the item by accident, can you please cancel. First time I did, but because this is a regular occurrence now I don't cancel it. So what happens is they just don't end up paying and get a strike. I don't respond to their message. Hate time wasters and don't like liars on eBay.

RedWineAllMine · 30/07/2019 22:51

buyer not buying**

HeffaLump1 · 31/07/2019 18:45

@RedWineAllMine how do they get a tick? Do eBay give it when I reported them not paying?

OP posts:
RedWineAllMine · 31/07/2019 22:35

You don't need to report them. They get a unpaid item strike automatically on their account if they bid and don't pay. Unless of you cancel the sale. I cancel sales for reasons which I think are genuine. I've had the "hospitalised" reason before for not paying too. People should read the description and know they want the item etc before bidding. They can retract bids themselves up to 12 hours before a listing is due to end, anytime before or after that the seller can cancel for them too.
They are time wasters and it impacts us sellers and isn't fair to us.
Strikes will effect people bidding on my items and other people's probably as my settings don't allow buyers with a certain number of unpaid strikes to bid on my stuff. So they do punish themselves in a way for doing it.
Buyers should tell me they've changed their mind or can't afford the item, then I would cancel, but don't give me some naff excuse that I just don't buy. (I don't want to force someone into buying something they don't want to buy) but them getting a strike is the only way they will learn not to do it.

RedWineAllMine · 31/07/2019 22:38

An unpaid item case always needs to be opened by the seller, at the end of that if they don't pay they get a strike.

Jupiter13 · 31/07/2019 22:56

I feel so sorry for the buyer ....some sellers are so inconsiderate about peoples misfortune. 😂😂😂😂

Whisky2014 · 31/07/2019 23:00

Jupiter is a sucker, cleary

Jupiter13 · 31/07/2019 23:17

Depends what I'm sucking..😂😂😂😂

HeffaLump1 · 01/08/2019 17:58

Ah ok @RedWineAllMine thanks for that. I did open a case so she probably has a tick I expect.

Mine has had to give 87 negative feedback for non arrival or not as described (but only wants a partial refund and not through ebay). Who knows how many more as one they gave on Saturday has already gone.

They are also very unlucky.
