I've bought a second-hand pram from ebay...it comes with a separate toddler seat that sits on top. I really want the item as it seems a better size for our house than a double buggy.

Anyway i paid via Paypal the next day (3rd Jul), she told me she would send via Parcelforce. Last week i was a bit concerned nothing had arrived so i emailed asking if she had posted and for a tracking no. I had the following reply last thursday pm...

"Hello, im so sorry, ive had some bad news concerning my father inlaw and we had to rush up to London ive only been back a couple of hours, im really really sorry for any inconvinience i didnt even think about my ebay account it was the last thing on my mind until i got home and saw your parcle still sat there! Im off to post it now so it can be with you as soon as it is in two large parcles as it is such a large item one box contains the seat unit, toddler seat, and all the other bits and bobs and the other box contains the wheels and chasiss unit.
Again please please accept my apologies.
Thank you"

I replied that she didnt need to stress posting it that day as she obviously had a lot on her plate.

Anyway ive heard nothing else over the weeekend and nothing has arrived so i sent her 2 em,ails yesterday...the first again requesting a tracking no. and the second as follows..

"I have sent you a message regarding item tracking via ebay but i just thought I should say that i can only access my email Mon-Weds so please could you respond by then. If there is a problem please let me know asap.

Sorry to hassle you when you obviously have other stuff going on but I'm just getting a bit concerned as it is now 2 weeks since I paid and this was an expensive item; I'm afraid I will have to open a dispute if I dont receive it this week.

Regards THBM"

No reply to my email this morning so what do i do now...ive never had any problem with ebay before and her feedback is good though she has only sold a couple of items but bought a few.

Ive got her tel. no from ebay and thought i would try and ring tonight, if no joy then open a dispute?? What do you think, she sounds genuine and it does sound like she could be away at a funeral or suchlike so i dont want to cause stress at a bad time...alternatively am i just being a mug??

Item cost £180 incl postage so obviously i dont want to lose this...if i dspute would i get all of this back incl. the postage.

Sorry this is long!

If you open a dispute and she can't provide tracking proof then yes, you will receive a full refund.

I'd do as you say, phone her first.

It's always tricky when they state the reason as being ill health or death. There have been posts on the forum about this - ebay should come with a health warning! some sellers suffer the same family member dying on more than one occasion!

It's really a case of offering sympathy, but at the end of the day it's a lot of money - if she doesn't have time for ebay (which is understandable) then she will have no objections to a dispute going through which enables you to get your money back.

Thanks...i will ring tonight.
I would preferthe item than the money back so i hope she is genuine.
