Fabric - returns and not as described

Arghhh - I have two total duds in a row. First lot of fabric I asked before purchase if it was on grain and was told it was. (Emails.) Fabric arrived (4m) and I merrily chopped it in half, went to measure up and it is massively off grain - too much to try and straighten. Seller has accepted a return and I am going to post back tomorrow, but I'm worried the seller will quibble on receipt as I cut the fabric.

Second lot was advertised as cotton, felt weird but assumed this was due to it being treated with dressing, cut it out for a skirt, ironed a seam after sewing and it melted - it is clearly synthetic. I emailed and have asked for a refund - waiting to hear. Happy to return it but it is in pieces!

How do you rate my chances on both of these?

I'm afraid I wouldn't hold my breath...but hope I'm wrong.

Me too or it’s £70 down the drain. I’m hoping the emails with the first one will help which was £50 - gulp!

Any news?

As long as you’re within the window for opening a return request then you will be fine.

Enterthewolves · 25/04/2019 21:58

I’ve posted back both but no response from either buyer yet...

Did you open a case and have eBay approve the return before you sent them back?

Enterthewolves · 28/04/2019 14:35

Yes I did the returns via EBay.

Basically as long as it's tracked (so eBay know it definitely arrived back with seller) if there is any disagreement eBay will force a refund for you anyway for not as described.

Don't worry.

19lottie82 · 28/04/2019 17:53

If you’ve sent them back via a return then no problem, did you use the tracked returns label provided by the seller?

Enterthewolves · 28/04/2019 19:41

Thanks for your help. I didn’t use the sellers tracked label - I did send it signed for though.

@enterthewolves if you haven't already, make sure you've entered this tracking number on the return case.

19lottie82 · 30/04/2019 12:47

Yes, this ^ upload the tracking number and if you can see delivery has been attempted (it doesn’t actually have to be delivered) and you still don’t have your refund then call eBay and they will give you your refund.

Enterthewolves · 30/04/2019 19:52

I’ve entered the tracking number and it is at the sorting office not collected - attempted delivery Monday. I’ll call EBay - thank you all.

You’ll be fine then, as I said attempted delivery is all you need to claim your refund. Otherwise buyers could just refuse / ignore delivery attempts to avoid having to refund.

Enterthewolves · 02/05/2019 08:04

Well the seller of the denim has asked EBay to intervene so I’ll know in 48 hours....

EBay are now saying 6 May so the buyer has time to provide documentation?!

Refunded, thanks all

That’s a great result.
