i have just has one of my listings cancelled and dont know why, please advise me!

i was selling the book 'going ga ga' by mel geidroyc. i listed it about 4 days ago and tonight i have come home from work to find an alert to say ebay have cancelled the listing due to my keyword spamming!! i dont know what this is. i sold exactly the same book a few weeks ago, and made a little bit of profit, so when i saw another in a charity shop, i bought it and listed it. i had no problems the first time round, and dont really understand why they have done this. can anyone shed some light on the situation for me?

the best thing to do is e mail ebay about your quiery and they will tell you exactly why the listing has been ended and while ur at it i would ask for a refund on the listing fee as its not ur fault the listing has been ended

keyword spamming is, for example, putting NOT next,gap,boden on a listing for some baby clothes from tesco, so that when buyers do a keyword search for those brands, your item is shown.

is there something in the wording of your ad that could have been classed as this?

Ebay defines key word spamming as

"Keyword spamming occurs when members place brand names or other inappropriate keywords in a title or description for the purpose of gaining attention or diverting members to a listing. Keyword spamming in listings is not permitted on eBay. The searchable text sellers place in listings must be directly relevant to the item being sold."

How did you list it?

if u email enay they will tell u exactly what words you have used as spamming, if u take that out they usually relist it for u

i just listed it as 'going ga ga, mel geidroyc, paperback, as new' they have refunded my listing fees. just annoyed me thats all.

I think that they just remove stuff without looking properly, so the likelihood is that maybe someone with the same book reported yours so theirs would sell for more.

it says that if i try to relist it they will take further action!! that cheek of it!!

you're not allowed to put 'as new'

that must be a new rule cause i have listed loads 'as new' before. thay should make these things more widely known when they change things.i am not impressed.

It's been the case for a long time and many listings do get pulled for it.

saying that - at this moment, on the Uk site there are 23589 listings using 'as new' in the title.

i reckon you have just got unlucky - have you upset anyone recently? This is quite often the cause of something like this getting reported

no i dont think so, my feedback is 100 %. maybe like you said im just unlucky. it will be hard to remember not to pit from now on though, as i use the term on alot of stuff.

when I'm listing books I put in the description - very good condition, appears unread.
