Issued refund via E Cheque - How long to clear?

I recently refunded a buyer on eBay, using the refund buyer tab on the open case, however it did it by E Cheque which I didn't select! It now says it can take up to 6 days to clear etc, if buyer doesn't receive refund by then they can claim their money back via the Ebay money back guarantee which could effect my seller rating Confused
I was baffled as to why it did this, but I realise it was because my bank card linked up to my PayPal had expired which I completely forgot about, so they used my bank account as default payment.
It's been a few days and still hasn't cleared yet. Does anyone know if E Cheque payments always go through? As I have the sufficient funds but am worried as to why it hasn't cleared yet.
Thank you dedicated Ebayers 😁

E cheques are totally random (and very annoying). They can take between 5-10 days I think.

But yes if your card has expired then that’s prob it (but they can come through at random also, I guess it’s some kind of anti fraud think). If you have the funds in your account, it will clear yes.

Great, thank you once again Lottie Smile. And yes very annoying, as I didn't even get to choose how to pay back the refund.
