Should they be posted separately, or does that not matter?

Of course they should be.

If a seller refuses to combine postage yet posts everything on one parcel, i’d Leave negative feedback: ‘seller refused to combine postage. I paid £12 but she paid £3.’

I’d also contact eBay and see if they can help.

I would refuse to pay for the items, and/or walk them through putting a “combined postage” invoice together, because it’s very simple.

Mummymummums · 03/03/2019 00:30

I'd be awkward and ask for them to be sent to different addresses. I did this once when I bought two things off a seller - they refused to combine postage but the postage would have halved as the two could go together for the price of one. I asked for one to be sent to me and one to my mother's address.

They are refusing to combine postage as the items I bought have been sold at ‘competitive prices’.

I should have asked beforehand!

So, I can reply and say that I presume they will be posting separately?

So they think they should have got more for the items, and want to recoup money on the postage...

You should have asked before bidding, but tbh I assume that buyers will combine postage. To be awkward, i’d Ask seller to send items to different addresses, silly bugger.

itswinetime · 03/03/2019 00:44

If they are charging separate postage they should be sending separately! You can't recoup money on postage that is unfair. If it all arrives in one parcel I would leave negative but factual feedback as per a previous suggestion 'charged x for postage but as they combined multiple packages only cost them y.'

I might see if there was a way to pursue a refund via eBay But I'm not sure if you will get anywhere as you agreed each item and the postage without questioning so I think it falls into a grey area.

Holidayshopping · 03/03/2019 09:53

I should have asked beforehand and usually do, but in many years of eBaying, sellers have always-without fail-been happy to combine!

I think I will ask her to send them separately.

They are refusing to combine postage as the items I bought have been sold at ‘competitive prices’.

So they’re admitting they want to take in a few extra quid by charging you twice. Of course they won’t post separately.

Assuming you aren’t desperate for the items, I’d refuse to pay and report them to eBay. It’s against eBay rules to profit from overcharging on postage.

True, but there are loads of loopholes. I don’t think eBay would do anything.

You can’t force the seller to combine postage, unfortunately. If you want the items then you will just have to pay, and then you have the option of leaving appropriate feedback .

RedWineAllMine · 04/03/2019 09:05

They should have combined postage If they had anything about themselves however when you purchased the items you bought them at the stated price of postage on all of them.
I think this shows we shouldn't assume, however you would have thought that they would have done it for you. I do. Yes you should expect them all to arrive separately as that is what you have paid for. If they don't however I would be telling Ebay and give them neg feedback.

AdobeWanKenobi · 04/03/2019 16:07

If they don't arrive separately don't forget to leave negative for each individual item and one star across the board.

I seem to recall in the past that negative for multiple items was more effective if left one a month. I'm sure Lottie can confirm or deny if this is still the case.
