Seller “can’t find” item

I won a pair of expensive shoes a few days ago. I was the only bidder so very low price.

The seller is now saying she can’t find them and is refunding the payment.

I know there isn’t anything I can do really but I’m so annoyed. It has happened a few times when I have won expensive items at a low price. Obviously never happens when I’m paying a high price.

Is there any point reporting it?

I'd report it if there is such a thing just in case they have form.

I had similar- only bid but then seller 'found out' that wife had given item to charity shop. Yeah really!!

Funny how it only happens when you get a bargain. Probably not worth reporting ebay couldn't care less.

MrMeSeeks · 03/03/2019 00:42

Ebay won’t care, don’t bother

Yumyumbananas · 03/03/2019 01:02

I genuinely did have an item accidentally given to a charity shop by my husband.

You can give negative feedback after you get the refund so other buyers are warned.

The feedback button disappears when you get your refund so you will have to go into your account to do it.

Obviously she's said that because she won't be happy with the low selling price and I bet she will relist them soon hoping to get a higher price.

Not sure eBay would do anything though as she has refunded you

LotsToThinkOf · 27/03/2019 00:27

But this is just a risk buyers take, you haven’t lost anything and you’ve been refunded so eBay won’t do anything. Watch for re-listing though, then do something then.

I also genuinely had an item taken to charity by mistake, the buyer didn’t believe me but as it’s never been resisted I hope they realised it was true.

Happened to me once. I don't go on ebay all that often but several weeks later I had a look - the sell had listed it again as a buy-it-now for twice what I'd won it for, and it had sold. Annoying thing was that if I'd seen it, I'd have been happy to pay the amount asked.

I hate this.
I know realistically if we've been refunded than we're not really worse off, but it's very disappointing.
I've had a few honest ones who have literally just messaged me saying "I wanted more than a couple quid for it, if you dont send me another 20 I'm not sending the item."
Ebay don't care.
