eBay - what sells etc?

I used to sell a fair bit on eBay and now I’ve got loads of stuff to sell on EBay again, a combo of old clothes of DD4.5 some are BNWT that were gifts and toys etc - mixture will go to charity shop the newer ones on eBay.

Then there’s my clothes - I tend to have a habit of buying stuff and not rertihtning it for DD as well as me so going to try to stop.

But what sells? What doesn’t sell? Really trying to downsize and need to if having another DC - just discovered I’m pregnant.

Have an awful habit of buying junk jewellery but nice brands that I then go off but could declutter.

The best way to find out is to search for what you want to sell and then filter for “sold items” (or something similar to that) and eBay will show you the price that other items have recently sold for, on both auction and buy it now listings. That was you can see if it is worth selling yours.

I’ve got brand new jumpers without tags (Tu Sainsbury’s) and a few children’s clothes that were wrong size but never returned or she wore once then refused to wear again!

I wouldn’t say that sort of stuff is worth selling TBH, unless you bundle it. But keep weight under 2kg and send second class, if you’re going to go with Royal Mail.

How about H&M brand new with tags clothes? Got a few in sale that I didn’t return and don’t fit.

List them and see what goes. You can relist automatically.
I don't think I would look for H&M or Tu unless I specifically wanted a particular item.
Make sure the title or description includes a selling point e.g. pockets, tunic.
I've got a pile of things listed and they're just not shifting. Listing things when people are likely to be looking for them helps. Not many will be looking for summer clothes now but come May or June they will.

IME brands sell when it comes to clothes if they are middle- high market.

I always get sales for Boden clothes and Jigsaw.
I have noticed a reduction in the price people are willing to pay. In the past I had no issues with selling a Boden cardi for £15 or more- now I'm lucky if it fetches £10.

I think postage is an issue now- it's £2.95 for anything over a large letter size which adds on a lot to the costs.

I don't think your items are worth selling on eBay... As already suggested, bundle them.
I think every day clothes are like cars, they depreciate in value as soon as you are outside the shop.

Thanks for this - I don't have many high end clothes to list anymore but I agree re clothes going for less. Would you use FB selling pages instead?

Yivamoon the clothes I do selling quite well as I buy them sometimes are:-

&other stories
Jigsaw
Boden
Cos

etc

and also jewellery such as Oliver Bonas etc

I also see lots of kids clothes selling well like Boden Kids, Little White Company etc and I need to sell some of DD's barely worn clothes or BNWT which she won't wear...

I sometimes search for the cheaper brands if I am trying to replace an item I really like, so it might be worth listing the wearable clothing.

Be careful with auto relists, they are not always free, and if you use sell similar you get a new listing ID which means it is less likely to be hidden in searches as viewed too often and unsold, also gives you a chance to review the title and keywords.

Also consider the time of year for clothing, it is best to list in season, and similar items in bundles if they are not expensive maybe.

I once won an auction for half a dozen summer tops. I also search for things I wanted to buy and were sold out, even from a previous year, and will keep looking until I find it.

Good photos, full measurements and proper description help to sell things rather than a rushed photo of something wrinkly on a hanger and no measurements.

SpringforEver - I'm going to bundle the 3 spring/summer tops I got in H&M sale and put them as a bundle as well as some BNWT sale H&M kids clothes that my DD took one look at and said no to, she's a very determined child when it comes to what she will wear and won't wear... and they were a present from DM.
