I found this on ebay for my DD

Now on 21st July I am going to Romford for a ballromm competition so I could drive down and pick it up

How do I ask the buyer if he could keep it until then?

How do I bid for it - I imagine it will go for a lot more than £150

I really haven't a clue

OP posts:
sixlostmonkeys · 30/06/2007 13:46

it will push his up to £180

dustystar · 30/06/2007 13:47

It will tell you that you haven't met the maximum bid or something to that effect.
This happened to me last week and I had to up my bid by a few pounds.

Katymac · 30/06/2007 13:47

Oh

if his highest bid is 200 and you put your highest bid at 300 - you will then be winning bidder @ 205 until someone else comes along.

dustystar · 30/06/2007 13:48

But you will know that if you haven't got the winning bid though

Katymac · 30/06/2007 13:53

I am right tho' aren't I, I shouldn't bid until he replies to my email

Where will he reply to my real email or the inbox on ebay?

LunarSea · 30/06/2007 14:32

Don't put in an exact amount as your max bid - add a few odd pounds or pence so you put, for example, £301.12 rather than £300. And you can also sign up for one of the free "sniping" services which will put your bid in for you with just a few seconds left - e.g www.auctionstealer.co.uk

Katymac · 30/06/2007 14:34

That's a good idea

Will the other bidder know if I put in 153.73 and he has put in 175 say?

or would my bid just not be accepted

OP posts:
Katymac · 30/06/2007 16:25

I am really stressing that the seller hasn't contacted me

Will he be cross if I bid anyway?

Can he refuse to sell it to me cos I can't get it til 22nd July??

OP posts:
meandmyflyingmachine · 30/06/2007 16:26

Perhaps he's out for the day?

Katymac · 30/06/2007 16:29

So do I bid - or do I wait to hear from him?

OP posts:
charliecat · 30/06/2007 16:30

Hmm, email him again. Im my experience as a seller, the people who ask loads of questions, are rarely the auction winners.
You need to make him aware that your determined to win this auction and that you can only collect on that particular date.
And would that be ok.
He could say that date is too far away and offer it to the next person, thats called a second chance offer.
But ...I cant mind read, email again

meandmyflyingmachine · 30/06/2007 16:32

Personally, I would.

charliecat · 30/06/2007 16:33

You still have 3 hours...wait...but DO. Once he actually HAS a buyer, and a cheque...he should be ok.

Katymac · 30/06/2007 16:37

I am sorry to be being so "needy" about this

But it would make DD's day & it is so cheap.......mind you I guess that bidder might have bid Thousands & Thousands according to DD

OP posts:
charliecat · 30/06/2007 16:50

They might have...but if you bid now the only thing thats going to happen is the price is going to go UP...so be patient Katymacs dd
And go tidy your room while your waiting;)

Katymac · 30/06/2007 16:56

She has (finally)

I am SO bad at being patient

Thanks god it is ending at a different time to Dr WHO - I couldn't concentrate on both

OP posts:
charliecat · 30/06/2007 16:58

It will cost you more bucks if you start bidding now...go do something else
Well done on the bedroom

Katymac · 30/06/2007 17:03

I mean how dare he sell his boat & go shopping (or whatever) I need an answer NOW

OP posts:
charliecat · 30/06/2007 17:16

I will also say that, as a seller, if I sit there and watch auctions end noone asks anything. but if I go out there 10 unaswered questions to return to.

sixlostmonkeys · 30/06/2007 17:29

the person who has already bid on this has tried to buy 3 boats in the past 30 days. Only once did they place a bid within the last hour of the auction. I would say this means they really want a boat BUT they do have a limit and are sticking to it.

Please be careful about leaving your bids until the last minute - there seems to be a glitch at times and some people (myself included) are losing out. The glitch is: just as you are trying to up your bid it asks AGAIN for your ID and password. You just don't have the time to do it before the auction ends.

wheresthehamster · 30/06/2007 17:41

Do you know how long it will take to get from Romford to Worthing? It's still quite a long way to go.

Katymac · 30/06/2007 19:07

Yes according to RAC it's 82 Miles & will take 1 Hr 50 mins

But from home it's 190 Miles & will take 4 hrs 30 mins

I know which I'd prefer to drive

My computer puts my password & username in automatically - will I have to type it?

OP posts:
charliecat · 30/06/2007 19:23

Randomly it asks you in the most inappropriate moments to redo it KM.
