Wrong PayPal address

Not sure if this thread is active or not, hello!

I sold a high value item on my eBay recently - it was an old account as I forgot my login to my newer one. No issues selling, item sold for £320.

Buyer sent money but I never received it. I assumed it was because it was the first sale in a while and was on hold. However upon checking it seems that my PayPal address was set at a [email protected] rather than the actual [email protected]

Seller is very patient and says the money has left her bank. I have no money entered my account (obviously as that account doesn’t exist!) and have done a cancellation on the eBay item as per her request. It’s now saying I need to refund? I can not refund as I don’t have the money to refund obviously. What now? Does anyone know? Do we wait for eBay to sort this or start a PayPal dispute? Of course I want my buyer to have her money back so we can redo the transaction as per her request.

Just set up the google mail account, as in a PayPal account under [email protected] you'll get the emails as google mail or gmail it all comes to the same inbox

I done this, I called eBay and they advised that the money goes unclaimed for 30 days and is on hold within Paypal, the buyer needs to log in to Paypal and claim the money back, you can then either send them an invoice from your correct Paypal account or send them your Paypal email and they send you the money, then you can mark your item as paid on eBay.

Does the googlemail address already exist under someone else's control or does it not exist?

If it doesn't already belong to someone else, you can add it as an alias to you existing PayPal account and the money will come to you.

If the email account exists and belongs to someone else, that person has the money. The buyer needs to contact PayPal to ask them to reverse the transaction - PayPal will not accept your instructions on this so the buyer needs to act.
